Jurgen Klopp would change things up ahead of our FA Cup tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers and the German confirmed that Simon Mignolet would start for us on Monday.
The Belgian has been a spectator on the bench in recent months as Alisson has played all our Premier League and Champions League games, but the former Sunderland keeper has kept going in training.
The manager spoke about the quality of Mignolet and lauded his professionalism this season. The Belgian was one of the best keepers in the Premier League when he joined Liverpool from the Black Cats but Alisson has been on another level this season.
The Brazilian has ensured we barely concede in the Premier League but there is no doubt Mignolet could do a quality job for another of the sides in the competition.
The 30-year-old’s appearances might be limited to the other cup competitions this season and even though he isn’t at the same levels as Alisson is, several Liverpool fans were pleased that Mignolet would get a start on Monday.
He deserves to start, he has gone about being 2nd choice GK in such a professional way and is now being rewarded with game time. Just shows hard work pays off!

Simon was really professional about being 2nd choice.
Deserves it.

People need to remember how good he was in the league cup game we lost 1-2. Also deserves a chance, he could easily force a move and walk into most bottom 10 sides in the league. Professionalism means he deserves a chance alone

He was decent the last time he played, was just unlucky that Hazard happened to be in form. Didn’t help the defenders were scared to tackle with being booked

It’s only right. He’s been a class act, honestly.

Great lad, glad we get to see him back on the pitch.

We beat Wolves earlier in the season, but this would be a huge test for a team that isn’t expected to feature several first-teamers.
