One of our biggest fears was realised as Dejan Lovren picked up an injury in our 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Reds fielded a much-changed side at Molineux, and it would have been a surprise if we started with our best side given our exploits in the Premier League.
Losing Lovren could be huge as the player picked up a hamstring injury, and he was partnered at the back by Fabinho.
Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold were rested, and it will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp manages our defence once we play Brighton at the weekend.
The German added that the injury for the Croatian came out of the blue, and he would not be able to provide a time-frame for his return (h/t Liverpoolfc.com).
The Reds will be hopeful that we don’t suffer further injuries in our defence as Joel Matip and Joe Gomez are close to a return, and we need to keep things tight at the back from the next game.
Lovren might not have been the best defender for us this season, but the Croatian did a great job till the loss against Manchester City.
Many Liverpool fans were worried for the team with the latest injury, and here are some of their reactions from Twitter.
Don’t think he even made a sprint? Was a mystery as he was fine in warm up.

Conspiracy theory of the moment. Lovren injury was theater to get him off the pitch and avoid criticism for starting back line with Hoever and Fabinho pic.twitter.com/xfw2sDxLTn

Did you know that Dejan Lovren has only remained fit for 6+ consecutive games twice in his Liverpool career?

Lovren injured, Gomez not back yet. I reckon @JamesPearceEcho could do a job though. pic.twitter.com/d9wY3l2uh1
