Liverpool youngster Rafa Camacho could be set for a long deal just days after making his senior debut for the Reds, according to the Mirror.
The 18-year-old defender was handed a start in our 2-1 FA Cup loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers but is set to join Sporting Lisbon on an 18-month loan, as per the report.
The Portuguese will be out of contract in 2020, and the report adds that Jurgen Klopp believes Camacho’s development will be better at Lisbon.
The youngster started his career at Lisbon before joining Manchester City when he was 13. Liverpool came calling a couple of years ago, and the defender has been in and around the first team in many games.
This is a bit of a surprise given the paucity of fit defenders we have in the team. Dejan Lovren was the latest to pick up an injury as we lost the Croatian just a few minutes into the tie against Wolves.
Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are recovering from their fractures, but are expected to return soon. The Reds also let Nathaniel Clyne join Bournemouth on loan in the winter window.
There was another impressive youngster in defence against Wolves, Ki-Jana Hoever, and the 16-year-old could play a role for the Reds this season.
