“It’s a strange coincidence, isn’t it?” – Liverpool star rubbishes rumours linking him with French giants

Fabinho after the 1-0 win over Brighton

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has ripped into the rumours that suggested he wanted to leave the Reds for Paris Saint-Germain. The summer signing from Monaco has slowly gotten accustomed to our style and has proved himself in the midfield.

The Mirror reports that Fabinho was linked with a move to PSG when Liverpool were to play the French champions in the Champions League.

The midfielder was asked about the move to Paris and told L’Equipe (h/t Mirror):

“I never thought of going elsewhere. I know a lot of things were written in the newspapers, but it wasn’t true. What’s funny is that this PSG loan story came out just before our Champions League match [in November].

“And I had already experienced a similar story the day before the final of the Coupe de la Ligue between PSG and Monaco [in March 2018]. It’s a strange coincidence, isn’t it?”

The Brazilian was linked with PSG during his time at Monaco, as per the report, and Fabinho admitted that if he wanted to join the French giants, he would have done a year ago.

However, it was great that things did not work out for the former Monaco man as he is proving his worth to the Reds this season.

Fabinho has done a great job as a defensive midfielder and his passing range is pretty good. Last night, he played as a centre-back alongside Virgil van Dijk and excelled in the role.

It was not easy going up against Glenn Murray of Brighton & Hove Albion and the Brazilian did a great job in ensuring that we kept the Seagulls from scoring in the 1-0 win.
