James Milner has named Alisson as Liverpool’s player of the season so far ahead of the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

The Brazilian keeper signed from AS Roma in the summer and has conceded just 10 goals from 22 Premier League games.

That is partly the reason why Liverpool lead the Premier League by four points ahead of Manchester City.

Alisson has made some fantastic saves and is great with his feet, and even though Milner told Liverpool FC magazine it was tough to pick just one player because of the great season so far, he would select Alisson (h/t Metro):

“I think maybe one you could select is Alisson. Coming to a new league is never easy.

“It’s a new lifestyle and you are also getting used to the weather and things like that, but he’s been unbelievable: from how he is around the place, to how good he is on the pitch with his feet and with the saves he makes.”

The Englishman praised the mentality of the keeper as he spoke about mistakes not fazing Alisson one bit. Milner ended by claiming that the keeper will be a huge player for us in the coming years.

“He’s been unbelievable for us this season so far and I believe that he’ll be a massive, massive player for us going forward.”

Liverpool have had a tough time in recent seasons with goalkeepers making huge mistakes or not being consistent between the sticks.

Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet struggled to perform for the Reds under Klopp. The German had to be sent away on loan while Mignolet has played a few cup games this season.

Alisson is possibly one of the best keepers in the world, and Milner is right in claiming that the Brazilian will only get better with more time at Anfield.
