The Daily Record (h/t Metro) claims that Liverpool want to sign a defensive midfielder in the transfer market and ease some of the injury concerns.

The Reds have been hit hard with injuries in the defence as Dejan Lovren, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold all face time out from the team.

The report adds that Liverpool are interested in signing a player that can do a job in the midfield and defence.

James Milner and Fabinho can play as full-backs with the Brazilian even starring as a central defender in our 1-0 win over Brighton.

However, the report adds that the Reds are open to signing a player on loan, and are looking for a cheap solution to our current problems.

The Reds don’t have a senior right-back at the moment and we could see either Milner or Fabinho play in that position against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Klopp also took the decision to send Nathaniel Clyne out on loan just a few days before Alexander-Arnold injured his knee.

The English youngster is expected to be out for a month but there was some better news with Joel Matip returning to the bench in our 1-0 win over the Seagulls.

The Reds face Crystal Palace at the weekend, and it will be interesting to see how we cope with the injuries in our defence.

Liverpool could do with one or two additions to the side, and hopefully, we make a quality signing in the January window.
