Former Premier League star and current pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft believes Jurgen Klopp will move for Timo Werner in the summer.
The German striker has been one of the stars for RB Leipzig in recent years and is a full international. The 22-year-old has 11 goals and 2 assists from 18 Bundesliga games, and the Daily Star reports that the forward rejected a new deal from Leipzig where he would earn £100,000-a-week.
Fjortoft claimed the German would be the perfect signing for Liverpool and tweeted (h/t Daily Star):
“Timo Werner, RB Leipzig, would be the perfect Liverpool player. Contract till 2020. They will probably sell him this summer.”
The former Premier League star further tweeted that a couple of Bundesliga sides would also be interested in the 22-year-old.
“Klopp will for sure go for this one. Bayern and Dortmund too…of course.”
Werner could be the ideal centre-forward for Liverpool given his pace and eye for goal. The 22-year-old has also been played as a left-winger for Leipzig this season, and Klopp needs to bring some quality cover for the likes of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
The trio is great as a unit but we don’t have sufficient quality to back them up. Werner has the potential to get even better and playing under Klopp could be the right move for the 22-year-old.

The Liverpool manager has worked wonders with some players at Anfield, and the Leipzig man would be a big signing for the Reds if we do get him.
