Naby Keita is probably the only summer signing yet to do well for the club this season. The former RB Leipzig man has struggled with injuries this term and was handed a start in our 4-3 win over Crystal Palace.
The 23-year-old recorded an assist in the win as he set up Roberto Firmino for our second goal but overall, he had a poor performance.
The midfielder seemed a bit slow with his passes and was often dispossessed. Keita has been played in several positions by Jurgen Klopp and the midfielder looked great in our opening day win over West Ham United.
The Guinea midfielder hasn’t been great in front of the goal too with just one assist to his name all season, which came in the win over Palace. Alisson, Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabinho have all impressed for the Reds and have been match-winners for us this season.
However, Keita still hasn’t replicated his form from his time in Germany, and it will be interesting to see how he progresses in the remainder of the campaign. There are some big matches coming up and Keita could still come good for Liverpool this season. Many Liverpool fans were unimpressed with the Guinean but believed that he needs to play in his favoured position.
Jurgen Klopp has played Keita on the right and the left-hand side of the midfield and some fans were not buying this move at all.
I have no doubts in Naby Keita’s ability, he’s going to need more time though. #LFC

Keita was played out of position on the left. Never ever do it again. But he needs to tougher surely!

Even though am not a coach, I know that Keita is a midfielder, a good one for that. Why was he being wasted on wing?

Poor game from Keita but we need to get behind him and give him time and a good run of games! #LFC #Keita

Today should be the last time we ever see Naby Keita play LW. He’s a central midfielder for crying out loud. Play him in a free role behind the front 3 and you’ll see the real Naby. pic.twitter.com/mOIsouWFdf

Naby Keïta needs the CENTRAL part of the football pitch to play his game. Way too lightweight to play on left/right #LFC

Keita was underwhelming again today. Didn’t take his chance to shine. Hopefully he can start firing soon, because it would be a real bonus for us if he could.
