Liverpool face a tough task of signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig after Ralf Rangnick’s later comments.

The German striker has been one of the brightest stars for the Bundesliga side and even represented the national team at the 2018 World Cup.

Werner is just 22, and the Mirror reports that the Reds have been linked with a move for the Bundesliga ace.

Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on the versatile forward, as per the report, but Rangnick believes Leipzig could keep Werner.

Speaking to Sky Germany (h/t Mirror), Rangnick also conceded that battling Munich’s interest will be difficult:

“If Bayern are serious, then it will be difficult for us. But they often play with one striker, so I see him staying with us for the next two or three years.”

The report adds that the Leipzig boss also claimed Werner would not be leaving to a rival club in the January window.

The forward has scored 11 times from 18 Bundesliga games this season and can play as the central striker or wide left.

The 22-year-old would make an excellent addition to the Liverpool team, and he would provide cover to our front three.

Rangnick’s comments are expected as no club would want to lose their top player, especially to a rival club, and it will be interesting to see how things develop in the summer regarding the striker.
