Former Liverpool star Luis Garcia believes Manchester City are the ones who are under pressure as the race for the Premier League title heats up.
The Cityzens are four points behind Liverpool at the moment, and the Reds have been relentless having dropped just nine points so far this season.
Garcia was speaking while promoting a charity match against AC Milan in March and claimed the Reds would have taken this situation at the start of the season (h/t Belfast Telegraph).
The Spaniard won the 2005 Champions League with Liverpool and further claimed that we would have a chance of winning the league if we remain close to the top with five games remaining.
Garcia believed teams chasing are always the ones facing the pressure (h/t Belfast Telegraph):
“The pressure is on the teams behind them because when you are up front it is important you continue winning the next game and you don’t think about it.
“They (chasing teams) have to think about what it will be like if they fail and that is a lot of pressure.”
Manchester City play ahead of the Reds in the next two Premier League match days, and it will be interesting to see if they can put the pressure on us.
City have cracked a couple of times this season with surprising losses to Crystal Palace and Chelsea, but have looked in great touch since defeating us at the Etihad.
