Liverpool provide key construction update over new 9,200sqm training complex

Liverpool training complex

Liverpool have shared details regarding the construction of their new training complex in Kirkby.

The plan is to develop the academy site to feature both the first-team and youth team operations for the first time in the club’s history, according to a release from the Reds.

The release adds that U23s building is being erected with over 2,000 pieces of steel being used and the construction should be complete in 12 weeks.

There is some landscaping to be done around the ground to protect the side from the prevailing winds. More than 500 new trees out of 750 have already been planted as part of the project.

The release adds that the 9,200sqm complex will host a range of quality facilities such as pitches, two gyms, a sports-hall, hydrotherapy complex, pool and rehabilitation areas.

There will also be designated press areas, TV studios and office accommodation at the complex. The complex should see parking spots, changing rooms and other facilities being installed.

The release further adds that McLaughlin and Harvey, the construction partner, believes that the development would be complete by 2020.

The Reds have done a great job this season, and the new complex should lead to a better progression for young players into the senior side.

Jurgen Klopp and the coaching staff have worked well with the first-teamers and the academy products. Hopefully, we see more players come through the youth squads and play for the Liverpool senior side often.
