Liverpool injury news: Jurgen Klopp provides a positive update on the returning star duo

Georginio Wijnaldum and Sadio Mane

Jurgen Klopp provided an update on Trent Alexander-Arnold and Georginio Wijnaldum as the pair continue their rehabilitation from injuries.

Alexander-Arnold picked up a knee ligament damage in the 1-0 win over Brighton and missed our game against Crystal Palace.

The German told Liverpoolfc.com

that the right-back is much better. The manager further claimed that the 20-year-old is ‘desperate’ to play every game, but wasn’t sure of the youngster getting a start against Leicester City:

“It will not be long [for Trent], but is he ready for Leicester? I don’t know, we will find out. Then it’s West Ham and then Bournemouth. After that he will be 100 per cent [back] but until then, we have to see.”

Wijnaldum too is recovering well, according to the boss, and he could be in the running to feature on Wednesday.

“The plan is that he will have one session today and then we have to see how he reacts on that. Hopefully we can build from that point.”

Liverpool have a problem at right-back given Trent’s injury and James Milner’s suspension. We could play Fabinho there against the Foxes.

Klopp could also turn to Rafa Camacho or Ki-Jana Hoever for that role against Leicester. The Reds aren’t involved in either of domestic cup competitions, which allowed the manager some extra time to work on his team.

We need to keep winning games to ensure City stay behind us, but Leicester isn’t always an easy game, as long as they have Jamie Vardy in the team.

The Reds have to be at their best on Wednesday, and hopefully, either or both of Wijnaldum and Alexander-Arnold make it to the line-up.
