Atletico Mineiro defender Emerson is set to snub interest from Liverpool and move to La Liga, according to Marca (h/t Mirror).

The 20-year-old full-back was a target for the Reds and Arsenal, however, he is set to join Real Betis once he returns from the 2019 South American U20 Championship, according to the report.

The Brazilian defender will join La Liga side Real Betis, and the report claims that the move is a joint transfer which involves Catalan giants Barcelona.

The report claims that the La Liga leaders will pay part of his transfer fee, hold a part of his rights and also have the first option should they want to sign him in the future. This would come as a bit of a blow to Liverpool as we could do with some quality cover in the defence.

Nathaniel Clyne was sent away on loan while Alberto Moreno hasn’t been good enough. Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been fantastic under Jurgen Klopp and it will be interesting to see who we sign as competition for the pair.

Robertson is possibly the best left-back in the Premier League, and Trent has the potential to become one of the best in the world.

The pair has played a huge role in the Reds staying at the top of the Premier League and hopefully, we stay there come the end of the season.
