Sadio Mane has claimed that he was always going to sign a new contract with Liverpool and believed there is more to come under Jurgen Klopp.
The Liverpool Echo reports that the Senegal international was linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer. The forward scored against the La Liga giants in last season’s Champions League final.
However, Mane told the World Soccer (h/t Liverpool Echo) that speculation is a part of the sport and that players have to learn how to live with it.
Mane spoke about Liverpool being his only concern and how he was going to follow Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino by signing a new deal:
“All I can say is that my only concern is Liverpool. Mo, Bobby… it seemed like everyone was signing contracts and they were saying: ‘Hey Sadio, when are you going to sign?’. I said to each of them: ‘Don’t worry bro, I will sign’.
“And what did I do? I signed… so they are pleased now!”
Mane hasn’t had a great season so far, but he has scored some important goals for the Reds. The Senegal star has bagged 10 goals in all competitions but scored against Manchester United, Arsenal and most recently against Crystal Palace in a 4-3 win.
The forward further claimed that he couldn’t wait to lift a trophy with the club. Mane conceded that this would be amazing for the fans too and believed that the side is moving in the right direction. The Reds have a great chance of lifting the Premier League as they lie four points ahead of Manchester City.

Mane will have a huge say if there are trophy celebrations at the end of the season at Anfield and hopefully, he finds his shooting boots before the campaign ends.
