Premier League bosses to highlight the loophole in the league rules after Liverpool’s game vs Leicester

The Mirror reports that some Premier League clubs are worried about a loophole that was brought to the fore in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Leicester City.

There was some controversy before the second half as the ground staff were seen removing the snow from Liverpool’s end of the pitch but not the one where Leicester would attack.

The report adds that this issue will be highlighted by the Premier League’s bosses before the regulations are finalised ahead of next season.

Jurgen Klopp recently claimed that this was not a deliberate measure from the Reds, and the team did not have enough manpower to clear both ends of the pitch before the restart.

The report

adds that the efforts of the staff were hindered by half-time entertainment and the Reds did not do anything unlawful by clearing just one side of the pitch.

Premier League rules don’t feature any measure regarding snow on the field, as per the report, and Rule 23 states (h/t Mirror):

“The home club may water the pitch at half-time provided that it gives reasonable notice to the referee and the other club that it intends to do so and that any such watering is carried out evenly over the entire length and width of the pitch.”

Liverpool couldn’t take advantage of their side being cleared as they could only manage a draw against Leicester, however, we can keep our five-point lead over Manchester City should we beat West Ham United today.

The Hammers have several injury concerns at the moment, and we should start the game as favourites.
