Liverpool blew their chance to keep Manchester City five points behind them after a frustrating and fortunate 1-1 draw against West Ham.
City’s win over Arsenal had cut our lead to just two points, but this was our game in hand. The Reds started slowly and were fortunate to score from James Milner’s cross, which Sadio Mane turned into the net.
Milner was offside when played through by Adam Lallana, but the lead did not last long as Liverpool fell asleep during a West Ham free-kick.
Michael Antonio was left free to calmly slot past Alisson, and the Reds were lucky not to fall further behind when the Hammers missed two quality chances from well-worked free-kick routines. The Reds did not have Georginio Wijnaldum, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson in the starting XI, but this was a largely poor performance.
There were a couple of chances for Mohamed Salah to score in the second half. However, both his curling efforts were easily saved by Lukasz Fabianski. Divock Origi could have found the back of the net late on, but his touch was poor as West Ham cleared the ball.
The Belgian was offside and it would have been unfair on the Hammers had they lost this game. The home side had the better chances and Jurgen Klopp has to go back to the drawing board after consecutive 1-1 draws.
Manchester City could leapfrog us if they beat Everton in the midweek, and many Liverpool fans were very upset after another shoddy performance.

Somebody said this the other day about us being 5 points clear don’t try making this result ok. That performance was poor and right now I’ve got no confidence at all in us winning the league

Lead at the top cut down to 3 points now. As soon as transfer window closes club says 3 defenders out injured like they didn’t know, today 2 midfield out injured 2nd choice rb out on loan, we play milner at rb cause we have no cover. Midfield has no balance, Bench is shocking.
