Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes the Reds are in a bit of a blip after the consecutive 1-1 draws in the Premier League. The Reds were a little fortunate to come out with one point against West Ham, and Manchester City are just three points behind the Premier League leaders.

Carragher was speaking on Monday Night Football (h/t Sky Sports) after the draw at the London Stadium and claimed this was a frustrating performance and he could not believe how poor Liverpool were.

However, Carragher asked for some perspective with the Reds being on top of the table. Even if they fell behind City by a point, it would not be the end of the world.

The former defender added that City and Tottenham have lost games this season, while Liverpool could be going through their blip now:

“Liverpool haven’t had a blip yet this season. Man City had a spell where they lost three games in four, Liverpool have drawn two on the bounce and Tottenham have lost various games at different times – it may just be a case of that.”

Carragher warned that there would be pressure on the Reds until the Bournemouth game, but backed his former side to go on a winning streak soon given their quality.

“Liverpool will go on a run of winning five or six games at some stage before the end of the season, there’s no doubt about it. They are a fantastic side as are Tottenham and Man City, but this run that they’re in may just be a little blip but they will come back.”

Liverpool don’t have a lot of time to dwell over the dropped points but a three-point lead over City is a slender advantage.

The Cityzens could move to the top of the table with a win over Everton in midweek, however, they would have played an extra game than the Reds.
