Jurgen Klopp has been asked for a written explanation regarding his comments on referee Kevin Friend after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against West Ham.

Sadio Mane’s goal was mired in controversy as James Milner was offside when he crossed the ball in. Klopp suggested that this mistake from the officials led to Friend favouring the home side in the second half, according to the Independent.

“I heard our goal was offside, I’m pretty sure the ref knew that,” said Klopp.

“In 50-50 situations it was always a free-kick for the other team.”

The Liverpool manager was also seen remonstrating with the referee at the end of the game, and he did not look happy. The Reds certainly weren’t at their best at the London Stadium and dropped a couple of points in the race for the Premier League title.

This was the second consecutive 1-1 draw after the one against Leicester and frankly, the Reds were fortunate to come out with a point.

However, it isn’t all doom and gloom for Klopp’s men. The Reds still hold a three-point lead over Manchester City and have lost just one Premier League game all season.

It is imperative for Liverpool to get back to winning ways soon, and we have a chance of picking up three points against Bournemouth on Saturday.
