Liverpool ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over Bournemouth and returned to the top of the Premier League. The Reds lost the top spot after Manchester City’s win over Everton in the midweek.
Liverpool needed to put up an impressive performance after a couple of poor 1-1 draws. The dropped points had brought City back into the race, however, we did have some injuries to deal with recently. Georginio Wijnaldum did not play against West Ham, but the Dutch midfielder was easily one of the best players against the Cherries.
Wijnaldum has been one of the stars for the Reds this season, and he showed his class with a well-taken goal in the first half. Andy Robertson crossed the ball into his path, and the Dutchman controlled the ball and lobbed it over Artur Boruc in the penalty box to give us a 2-0 lead.
The other goals came from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, however, Wijnaldum showed just what we end up missing when he does not play for the side. The Reds have a nice 10-day break before they play Bayern Munich in the Champions League, however, our next clash is a tough one against Manchester United.
Hopefully, Wijnaldum will put in a quality performance until the end of the season, and many fans were impressed with his outing on Saturday.
