Liverpool FC transfer news: Barcelona cool interest in Liverpool target Adrien Rabiot
La Liga giants Barcelona have cooled their interested in Adrien Rabiot, according to report in AS (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The 23-year-old is a free agent come the end of the season and has fallen out of favour at Paris Saint-Germain. The midfielder has been linked with Liverpool (h/t Liverpool Echo). Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United are also in the race.
The report claims that Rabiot had agreed on personal terms with the La Liga champions, however, a move to the Premier League seems more likely.
The midfielder is one of the brightest players in France but hasn’t played for PSG since December.
A quality signing for the Reds?
Rabiot would be a wonderful addition to the side, even if we are stacked with midfield options. The 23-year-old has the potential to become one of the best in the world, and Jurgen Klopp should be able to extract the best out of him.
The interest from Manchester United and Arsenal is the worry. Unai Emery has managed the Frenchman during his managerial days at PSG, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned Manchester United’s season around and would attract the player’s attention.
The Red Devils now seem likely to finish in the fourth spot and clinch Champions League football.
Rabiot would provide competition for the midfield spots, and we require some fresh faces given that James Milner and Adam Lallana might not feature next season.
