Latest Liverpool news: Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard to miss Liverpool clash

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard would be out of action for two to three weeks.

The pair picked up injuries in the defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, and are now in doubt of facing them in the away leg on 6th March (h/t Sky Sports).

“I think they will be out for two to three weeks looking at it now,” Solskjaer told before the FA Cup tie against Chelsea (h/t Sky Sports).

This will come as great news for Liverpool ahead of our clash against United next Sunday. Solskjaer has done a great job at the club and has turned their season around.

The Norwegian hinted that he would give chances to some of the other players at the club, and it will be interesting to see how they deal with the FA Cup tie against Chelsea on Monday night.

A big blow for United

Martial has been in decent form under Solskjaer and missing Lingard is a huge problem for the Norwegian.

The Englishman was possibly playing his best football under the former United striker, and this should give us more motivation to get three points against the Red Devils.

Liverpool have a game in hand on Manchester City, and it is imperative for us to win at Old Trafford.

The three points would not only open a bit of breathing space between us and the Cityzens but it would also deliver a major psychological blow to Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Red Devils also play City later in the season and so let’s hope the Cityzens drop some points in the coming weeks.
