Latest Liverpool news: Manchester United pair expected to make an early return from injuries

Manchester United attackers Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial have provided the club with a boost as they are expected to return from their injuries earlier than expected, according to the Mirror.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had claimed that the pair would be out of action for two to three weeks after picking up problems in the Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the report adds that United sources don’t think the problems for the players are severe. The report claims that one or both of the attackers could be fit for the clash against Liverpool at the weekend.

The pair have been ruled out of the FA Cup tie against Chelsea, and it is to be seen if they can make it to Old Trafford for Sunday’s huge games.

Liverpool should be well-equipped to deal with United

This seems like some good old fashioned mind games to get Liverpool thinking about their plans for the game.

Not having to deal with Martial and Lingard would have been a boost for us. The pair have been in excellent form this season, but the Reds should be looking to beat teams irrespective of their starting XIs.

If the Reds harbour ambitions of finishing the season as Premier League champions, they should be able to deal with the strongest teams.

Liverpool have lost just one Premier League game all season, and the clash against United won’t be an easy one.

We beat them 3-1 earlier in the season, but Solskjaer has got them playing better football than what Jose Mourinho did.
