Latest Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp claims Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks good in training but needs more time

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s recovery from a major injury last season continues. The Englishman has shared videos and pictures of his progress in training and seems to be doing well at the moment.

The former Arsenal star was seen alongside Mohamed Salah in some of the pictures, however, Jurgen Klopp claimed that the Englishman is a fair bit away from playing for the first-team.

The German told the club website (h/t Express) that the job for the team is to make the midfielder “resistant” to some things:

“We don’t have to talk about Ox at the moment because he needs a bit of time.

“He looks so good in training but we need to make him resistant for all the things that are coming up.”

The manager also provided an update on another star in the making, Rhian Brewster, who has also been injured for a bit:

“Rhian Brewster is still only in little parts [of training].

“Ox in bigger parts but not ready to play.”

The Ox could play a major part this season

Klopp had admitted previously that there was a chance for the Ox to play in the Champions League’s latter stages as he was included in the squad.

The Englishman would also be a huge boost for our Premier League hopes as he provides a different option for our midfield.

Liverpool have to take things slowly with him and Brewster and should only play the pair when they are 100% sure.

The Reds certainly have done that so far and hopefully, we see the Ox in full flow before the season ends.
