Liverpool FC transfer news: Danny Murphy claims two English stars will leave Liverpool in the summer

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge will leave Anfield at the end of the season.

The pair have struggled with injuries since last season, though Sturridge has been fitter than ever before this time around.

The duo have also seen limited starts under Jurgen Klopp in the current campaign and Murphy believed this is one reason why they could leave.

Speaking to SportingBet (h/t Mirror), the Englishman added that the Reds will need to replace the pair too:

“I think Liverpool will look to sell Lallana and Sturridge this summer. It’s difficult because you need a competitive squad that offers a plan B and they’re quality players, but they’ve been severely hampered by injuries and I just can’t see them getting enough games.

“They will need replacing though and that is the balancing act of keeping a big squad happy when only 11 players can get on the pitch.”

Murphy backs the captain

Jordan Henderson was involved in a bit of a spat with Jurgen Klopp at Old Trafford and even though the Englishman hasn’t always been the best player on the pitch, Murphy believes the captain will stay at the club.

Murphy lauded Henderson’s reliability and discipline before adding that the England midfielder is great at pressing and breaking up play.

Sturridge came on in the 0-0 draw against Manchester United and didn’t do much despite playing for more than half the game.

Lallana, for his part, has been provided starts this season, but there hasn’t been one game where he has stood out.

Liverpool should be busy in the transfer window once again this summer, and hopefully, we can add more quality to the side and sell some of the deadwood.
