Liverpool FC transfer news: RB Leipzig rubbish claims of deal for Timo Werner joining Bayern Munich

RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick has dismissed rumours of star striker Timo Werner agreeing on a move to Bayern Munich.

The German striker has been linked with Liverpool and reports had suggested that the 22-year-old had agreed terms with Bayern (h/t Liverpool Echo).

However, Rangnick has claimed that Bayern have made no contact with Leipzig and his future will be up for discussion in the summer (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“A possible agreement is impossible for 2019 [right now]. We would have to agree, and we are not.

“Nobody has approached us from Bayern. There will not be a case like Leon Goretzka and Robert Lewandowski between us and Timo Werner.

“Clubs that want him will report in the summer and then we will find a fair, mutually agreed solution.”

Werner a star in the making

The German has been excellent for Leipzig this season with 11 Bundesliga goals from 21 games this season. The 22-year-old represented his country at the World Cup but failed to impress, like the rest of the team.

Werner could do a decent job in our attack while providing competition to the front three.

The Reds have Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge as the other options to replace Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino but the pair haven’t played many minutes this season.

Origi was impressive in the 5-0 win over Watford and scored the winner in the Merseyside derby earlier in the season.

Sturridge, for his part, is out of contract at the end of the campaign and scored a couple of important goals this season too.
