Latest Liverpool news: Marko Grujic puts in great performance in win over Mainz

Marko Grujic has been one of the successful Liverpool loanees in recent years. The Serbian was Jurgen Klopp’s first signing at Anfield and did a great job for Cardiff City last season.

The midfielder helped them gain promotion and was a part of the World Cup squad for Serbia too. Grujic was then sent on loan to Hertha Berlin and has been a star for the Bundesliga side.

Although the midfielder’s season has been hampered by injuries, Grujic helped Hertha beat Mainz at the weekend.

The Serbian scored an important header for the side and was brilliant in the middle of the park. Hertha need a bit of a miracle to finish in the European spots as they lie eighth in the Bundesliga.

Grujic’s future at Liverpool

The Reds have several options in the midfield at the moment, and Grujic is expected to leave on loan next season too. The Serbian has proved he can be a starter for a top team in one of Europe’s best leagues, and this progress should not go unnoticed at Anfield.

The only problem with his game seems to be a lack of speed. Grujic seems to take a bit longer when he has control of the ball, and the Premier League barely gives any time for players to take touches.

Fabinho also had a bit of a slow start to his Anfield career, but the Brazilian has proved to be a quality addition to the side.

Grujic has three goals and an assist from 14 Bundesliga games, and it will be interesting to see how he progresses for the rest of the campaign at Hertha.
