Latest Liverpool news: Chris Sutton claims the fans are “bottling” it for Liverpool

Former Premier League winner Chris Sutton has claimed that Liverpool aren’t bottling the race for the title but their fans are.

Sutton was speaking on the Monday Night Club (h/t BBC) where he claimed that the Reds and Manchester City were part of a great race and both teams have had their ups and downs:

“To me the Liverpool fans seem to be bottling it, not the players and Klopp.

“Can’t we just say that Liverpool and Manchester City are two great teams – it’s a brilliant title race. This will go to the wire.

“When Manchester City lost earlier in the season to Palace and Leicester and Newcastle, did we say Manchester City are bottling it?”

The Reds picking up draws and not wins

Liverpool have drawn four Premier League games recently and have seen Manchester City usurp them in the table.

However, we have only lost one game in the league so far this season, and lie one point behind the Cityzens with nine games to go.

Sutton further claimed that drawing against arch-rivals Manchester United and neighbours Everton weren’t the worst results, and the players just need to focus on the next game.

The Reds haven’t played slick attacking football in many games this season and were just about getting a goal to win games.

However, we are capable of thrashing sides as we did against Watford, and hopefully, we get back to that sort of play in the coming weeks.
