Latest Liverpool news: New training complex update as Kirkby facility begins to take shape
Liverpool have provided an update on the new training complex at Kirkby with the framework for the new U23 and first-team building is a few weeks from completion.
The report adds that there are more than 2,000 pieces of steel which will take around 12 weeks to install.
Concrete and tonnes of stone are also being used to lay the groundwork for the foundations of many facilities such as the swimming pool, training complex, car parks, footpaths, hydrotherapy pools and other aspects of the new facility.
The report adds that foundations for the new swimming pool and hydrotherapy pool have already been finished, which have used 400 cubic metres of reinforced concrete.
Next steps for the facility
There is a lot of work remaining at the facility and the release further claims that the next step is for external brickwork to be laid, to bring the mail building to “life”.
The project work started in 2018 and it is expected to be finished by 2020.
The new complex would provide a different dynamic to the club as the first-team will train in the same area, and further, it will allow Jurgen Klopp and the rest of the coaching staff to keep an eye on the young talent.
