Latest Liverpool news: Fans love Ajax knocking out Real Madrid in Champions League
Ajax conquered Real Madrid 4-1 at the Bernabeu and marched into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Real came into the tie with a 2-1 advantage from the first leg, however, Ajax cut the deficit in the seventh minute as Hakim Ziyech scored.
The Dutch giants made it 2-0 thanks to David Neres before former Southampton star Dusan Tadic scored a third to leave Real reeling.
There was faint hope for the defending champions after Marco Asensio scored but all hopes were snuffed out when Lasse Schone scored in the 72nd minute.
This was one of the shocks in the Champions League era, and there was egg on the face of the Madrid giants.
Real feel the burn
Sergio Ramos had picked up a yellow card in the first leg to miss this tie, and was criticised from some quarters regarding his decision.
The Real Madrid man was watching from the stands as his side crumbled, and it felt great for a few Liverpool supporters.
The Champions League final from last season was a painful memory as we lost the tie. What was worse was Ramos taking Mohamed Salah out early in the game, and also Loris Karius getting a concussion in the tie.
Ajax certainly proved once again that a team can beat a set of individuals. Many Liverpool fans lauded the efforts of the Dutch team and loved the destruction of Madrid.
This Ajax side reminds me of Monaco which fiercely contested until semi-finals. Young brave starlets with fantastic technicians. Absolute delight to watch them.

Ajax are part of the European football elite. Huge club in a great city with a rich heritage. Really pleased to see them smash Real Madrid tonight.
Shame it wasn’t this side that United faced a couple of years ago.

Hope Sergio Ramos enjoyed that one. You won’t see many better away performances in Europe than what Ajax came up with tonight. Brilliant to watch.
