Liverpool FC transfer news: Napoli star Piotr Zielinski isn’t looking to leave Italian side

Calciomercato reports that Polish midfielder Piotr Zielinski is a long-term target for Liverpool. The 24-year-old has been one of the best in the Serie A for a few years, but the report claims that Napoli aren’t interested in selling him.

Napoli saw a managerial change recently with Carlo Ancelotti taking over from Maurizio Sarri, and Zielinski told the press before a Europa League clash against RB Salzburg that he was happy at the club (h/t Calciomercato):

“I am happy about my condition and I want to continue. Sarri and Ancelotti are different and I want to thank Ancelotti for his trust. I can improve and score more goals, I try to improve every day, I want to reach the top.”

The Polish star even spoke about a new contract at the club and wanted to stay for a while:

“New contract? I am happy at Napoli, I want to stay here five more years to help the team to improve”.

Another quality season for Zielinski

The 24-year-old can play in several positions on the pitch but has played on the left of the midfield numerous times this season.

Zielinski has five goals and four assists in all competitions for Napoli, and the report adds that the midfielder has a release clause of €65million. However, the Italians want to increase that to €100million and his current contract ends in 2021 (h/t Calciomercato).

Liverpool have had some problems with their midfield this season with a lack of goals and creativity. Zielinski would not provide us with a ton of goals, and the Reds splurged big on Fabinho and Naby Keita in the summer.

Fabinho has been excellent after his switch, but we are yet to see the best of Keita under Jurgen Klopp.
