Madrid came into the tie with a 2-1 lead from the first leg but were hammered 4-1 at home. Ajax were absolutely brilliant in the home leg and got the ball rolling with Hakim Ziyech scoring in the seventh minute.
David Neres made it 2-0 in the 18th minute before Dusan Tadic made it 3-0 in the second half. The Serbian even got two assists for the first two goals.
Marcos Asensio scored in the 70th minute but Ajax had time to make it four thanks to Lasse Schone.
Tadic excels in Ajax
Tadic would be remembered for his time at Southampton, and it was a surprise when he left the Saints for Ajax.
The Serbian was one of the better players at the Saints, and has been excellent for the Dutch giants this season.
The 30-year-old has 23 goals and 11 assists in all competitions for Ajax, and many Liverpool fans were impressed by the Serbian.
Liverpool have had a great relationship with Southampton regarding our recent transfer activity. Virgil van Dijk was the latest player to join us, and he has been excellent.
