Latest Liverpool news: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain trains with first-team ahead of Burnley clash

Liverpool face a tough battle to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League as they face a plucky Burnley side at Anfield.

The Reds defeated their opponents in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, but haven’t been in free-scoring form in recent weeks.

Mohamed Salah was pictured in training ahead of the tie, and he looked in great spirits despite going through a barren patch in recent weeks.

Sadio Mane was also present in training with Roberto Firmino, and the pair need to be at their best on Sunday if we are to pick up the three points.

Defence stands tall for the Reds

Our defence has been the talking point this season with Virgil van Dijk doing a great job at the back.

The Dutchman isn’t the only one having a great season with Alisson doing a fine job in between the sticks.

Andy Robertson is another player that is having a great season, and the Scot could be the best left-back in the Premier League.

There is some help for our defence with Fabinho also having a decent season after a slow start to his Anfield career.

Although some players still haven’t hit top gear this season, there was some good news with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pictured in training.

The English star hasn’t played since his injury against AS Roma last season but should get some minutes on Friday against Derby for the U23s.
