Liverpool FC transfer news: Fans excited as Matthijs de Ligt is open to joining Virgil van Dijk at Anfield

Matthijs de Ligt is one of the brightest centre-backs in Europe. The Dutchman has already created a big name for himself thanks to his performances for Ajax, and the latest one was the 4-1 demolition of Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The 19-year-old is one of the most sought after defenders in the world, and the youngster recently dropped a major hint that he would be open to moving to Anfield.

A clip from Goal showcased the youngster speaking about the possibility of playing beside Virgil van Dijk, and did not rule out a transfer to Liverpool.

The Dutchman said: “It could happen”, with regards to moving to Anfield before adding that he is concentrating on the remainder of the campaign at his current club.

A world-class youngster at Anfield?

De Ligt also plays in the national side for the Netherlands and having him at Anfield would be fantastic.

The 19-year-old with Van Dijk would be amazing for club and country, but it would also give us a selection headache after the rise of Joe Gomez.

The English centre-back was doing a great job this season until a lower leg fracture took him out of the side.

Liverpool spent big on bringing Van Dijk to Anfield from Southampton, and some fans were excited at the latest comments from De Ligt regarding his future.
