Latest Liverpool news: Bayern hit top gear before Champions League tie with 6-0 win over Wolfsburg
Bayern Munich seem to have hit their groove ahead of our Champions League tie in midweek. The Bavarians were struggling under Niko Kovac at one point this season but thrashed Wolfsburg 6-0 on Saturday.
Serge Gnabry, James Rodriguez, Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich scored one goal each, while Robert Lewandowski scored a brace.
The win also put them on top of the Bundesliga on goal difference with Borussia Dortmund placed second. This was their sixth consecutive win in domestic competitions, and Bayern have scored 11 goals in their last two games.
Bayern to miss two star players
There is some good news for us, with the Bavarians set to miss Muller and Kimmich due to suspension. The Reds will also have Virgil van Dijk back in the defence after the Dutchman was ineligible to play in the first leg.
Liverpool were the better team in the first leg, but could not get past the Germans. The Reds have also been great in keeping clean sheets with four consecutive ones in the Premier League before we conceded against Burnley today.
The Reds know that scoring an away goal will be huge in the tie and hopefully, we come out on top against the Bavarians.
Liverpool haven’t been in free-scoring form in recent weeks, but with Van Dijk back in the side and Bayern missing a couple of players, we could just sneak past them into the quarter-finals.
Many Liverpool fans learned about the result and wanted the side to play at their best on Wednesday.

Hilarious how Dortmund are now level on points with Bayern and supposedly struggling Bayern just twat a team 6-0 to go top. Our incredible luck to play them at home when they like United are on the upswing. #LFC #UCL

Bayern have just gone top after Dortmund were 10 points in front at Christmas. Anyone calling Dortmund bottlers? Nope… it’s the rollercoaster that is a title chase… #LFC #BVB #FCB #believe
