Mane gets 8.5, Lallana gets 8 – Liverpool player ratings from 4-2 win over Burnley

Liverpool against Burnley

Liverpool vs Burnley ratings: Liverpool player ratings

Liverpool had to survive some scary moments as they defeated Burnley 4-2 at Anfield. The Reds knew that they had to win in order to keep the pressure on Manchester City and got off to the worst start.

Ashley Westwood scored directly from a corner but it should have been disallowed after as Alisson was fouled.

Liverpool didn’t waste a lot of time and scored via Roberto Firmino. Sadio Mane made it 2-1 before Firmino scored the third goal in the second half.

It seemed set to end 3-1 in our favour but Burnley scored in the dying minutes of the game. However, Mane made it comfortable once again with the fourth of the game.

The Reds needed the win ahead of their clash against Bayern Munich, and here are the player ratings for the home team.

Liverpool player ratings

Alisson – 7/10

The Brazilian was booked for his remonstrations regarding the first goal and could have done better to stop the second from going in.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6/10

The Englishman had to be subbed off with a slight problem, and his deliveries weren’t great either.

Joel Matip – 7/10

Did a decent job at the back but he gave away the poor corner which led to us conceding the first goal.

Liverpool players against Watford

Virgil van Dijk – 7/10

This wasn’t as great a performance as it was against Everton but the Dutch defender had a decent game.

Andy Robertson – 7.5/10

The Scot gave some great deliveries into the box and the left-back also linked up well with the attack.

Fabinho – 7.5/10

The Brazilian did a decent job in the midfield and had some important interceptions too. Was booked after stopping a Burnley attack.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 6/10

The midfielder didn’t have a great game but had a lot of running to do for the Reds.

Adam Lallana against Burnley

Adam Lallana – 8/10

The old Lallana was back in the team. The Englishman was running about and putting in challenges. One such led to the second goal for us, and he had some great moments in the attack too.

Mohamed Salah – 8/10

Salah didn’t score but he created two goals and on another day, he probably would have found the back of the net.

Sadio Mane – 8.5/10

The most dangerous player for the Reds. He scored an important second goal and could have done more had it not been for misplaced passes with Salah.

Roberto Firmino – 8/10

The Brazilian was at the right place at the right time to score both goals, and his hard work will be important against Bayern.

Substitutes

Jordan Henderson – 5/10

Slotted in as the right-back once Trent Alexander-Arnold was substituted.

Naby Keita – NA

Came on for a few minutes.
