“Shame on the FA”, “Embarrassing” – Some Liverpool fans fume at referee for allowing Burnley’s first goal in Reds’ 4-2 win

Latest Liverpool news: Fans slate referee and linesman for not catching foul on Alisson

Liverpool returned to winning ways and cut the deficit on Manchester City to one point in the Premier League.

The Reds faced a tough Burnley side and came out 4-2 winners in a game which we controlled for most of the 90 minutes.

However, Burnley scored the first goal of the game, and it came under controversial circumstances. The Clarets were handed a corner and they scored directly from it but Alisson was seen remonstrating with the referee.

Replays showed that the Brazilian had been impeded by two players and could not collect the ball comfortably.

Reds push on to win

That Ashley Westwood goal came in the sixth minute and the Reds seemed to be fired up. Roberto Firmino equalised before Sadio Mane gave us the lead.

Mohamed Salah then raced clear in the second half before a tackle left Firmino open to score his second of the game. The match seemed set to finish 3-1 but Burnley got a goal back in added time through Johann Berg Gudmundsson.

However, the Reds were not going to let slip of this lead as Mane was sent clear for his second of the game, as he rounded the keeper and scored.

Liverpool certainly deserved the win and could have scored more than four goals. However, it is best to take it one game at a time.

After City’s lucky goal yesterday, many fans were upset with the referee for not cancelling the first goal we conceded, and here are some of the reactions from Twitter.
