Latest Liverpool news: Liverpool fans react as Philippe Coutinho is booed off for Barcelona
Philippe Coutinho’s struggles at Barcelona continue as the Brazilian was a subject of whistles and boos from some of the fans.
The Brazilian was subbed in the 80th minute and his form has massively dipped in recent weeks. The last time Coutinho assisted or scored a goal was against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey in January.
Since then, the 26-year-old has gone nine games without troubling the score sheet.
Marca also highlighted the struggles of the former Liverpool star while Gerard Pique was quoted (h/t Marca) as saying Coutinho has to accept the reaction of the fans despite having a good season:
“Obviously his cost was very high so that means there are more expectations of his performance level.
“It is what it is. We have to accept the reaction of the fans because they are our followers but from the inside we have to give him our support.”
Pique believed Barcelona need Coutinho to be at his best as the Catalans look to win a treble this season.
Coutinho is yet to click this season
The Brazilian forced a transfer to the Catalans last season and helped them to the La Liga crown.
However, this season, Coutinho only has eight goals in all competitions and has recently seen his place come under threat.
Coutinho was one of the sparks for Liverpool during his time at Anfield, and had some great moments wearing our jersey. We also sold him for a huge sum and reinvested most of it into making the team stronger.
The Reds may be missing an attacking outlet in the midfield at the moment, and some fans felt sad for the Brazilian at the Nou Camp.
@Phil_Coutinho You deserved it.
You were treated as a KING at @LFC, but now, you are been treating as a flop at @FCBarcelona .— John Bosco © (@JBosco2882) March 10, 2019
Feel for #Coutinho no matter what we think over his move to #Barca when he was at #LFC we loved him. Now he is being whistled off by the Barca fans. #YNWA

Saw the #BarçaRayo game yesterday and Coutinho seems so out of place in the team, feel sad for him as he wanted to be in this club. He did well in the starting few months, let’s hope he finds his form back
