Latest Liverpool news: Besiktas manager unhappy with on-loan keeper Loris Karius

Loris Karius made another mistake in Bestikas’ 3-2 win over Konyaspor. The German should have made a save from Omer Al Sahiner but allowed the equaliser to go through.

Shinji Kagawa saved the blushes of the Turkish giants, but the manager of the club was not happy with Karius’ performance.

The German joined the club on a two-year loan deal after the Champions League final defeat against Real Madrid last season.

There have been spells where he has been great for Bestikas. Senol Gunes was having none of it and criticised the player with the Liverpool Echo claiming that some fans even heckled the German:

“He was at fault for the goals he conceded.

“Karius has gone a bit stagnant, something is wrong with his electricity, motivation, enthusiasm for the game.

“Something is wrong, he has also been unlucky. [He] is talented but it hasn’t worked out and we have a problem. Let me put it this way, if I still had Tolga available I would play him.”

Tough season for Karius

The German was replaced by Alisson at the start of the season, and a change of scenery initially seemed to work for him.

However, Karius is still making some mistakes which are leading to goals. The former Mainz keeper seems to be suffering from a lack of confidence, despite being one of the top keepers in the Bundesliga before joining Liverpool.

It will be interesting to see how things progress with him in the summer as he would have one more year left on his Besiktas deal.

The keeper could still turn things around and many fans backed Liverpool to help the German out.
