Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that club captain Jordan Henderson will not play against Fulham at the weekend.
Henderson was replaced early in the first half against Bayern Munich with Fabinho, and Klopp expects the Englishman to return after the international break.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of the Fulham clash, Klopp provided updates on two other stars too (h/t LiverpoolFC.com):
“With Hendo, we made further assessment and we know now that it’s serious enough probably to rule him out for the weekend and the international break will be long enough hopefully to bring him back.
“It’s a little one with the ankle, how it looked in the first place.”
Naby Keita was another player carrying a minor knock and did not travel with the team to Germany.
The Reds came out 3-1 winners over Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 and will face Porto in the quarter-finals.
Klopp was hopeful of the midfielder training with the side, and it is to be seen if he returns to the team for the trip to London.
The Reds should come into the tie against Fulham in great spirits after the win in Munich. Liverpool can go top of the Premier League with a win at Craven Cottage.
Manchester City don’t have a Premier League game this weekend, and we can get a psychological boost with a win over the struggling Cottagers.
