Latest Liverpool transfer news: Loris Karius could be on his way to Olympiakos
Loris Karius’ time in the Turkish league hasn’t gone well. The 25-year-old joined Besiktas on a two-year loan deal from Liverpool but has hit hard times at the club.
The keeper was jeered at by the fans in their latest game and the manager even claimed there was something wrong with the German.
Karius also seems to have fallen out with the club after reports suggested that he was seeking help from FIFA over unpaid wages by the Turks.
The Liverpool Echo claims that Karius might not complete his second year at the club with Hurriyet (h/t Liverpool Echo) adds that Olympiakos are interested in the keeper.
The report adds that the Greek giants would like to sign Karius in the summer and the president of the club, Evangelos Marinakis, has a great relationship with Besiktas president Fikret Orman.
Karius on the move again?
It was difficult for Karius after the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid. The German made a couple of mistakes in that loss and then saw his place in the team taken up by Alisson.
The summer signing has been excellent so far, and it would be a major surprise if Karius is brought back to the side after one season out.
Olympiakos would be a different challenge for the German keeper, and it will be interesting to see if he is open to a move to Greece.
Liverpool have a couple of quality young keepers coming through the ranks and Simon Mignolet is cover for Alisson this season.
