Latest Liverpool news: Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum score for the Netherlands against Belarus
The Netherlands made the perfect start in their Euro 2020 qualifying group as they thrashed Belarus 4-0.
Memphis Depay was the star of the night as he scored the first goal in the first minute of the game before his backheel pass allowed Georginio Wijnaldum to find the back of the net in the 21st minute.
The Liverpool midfielder won a penalty which Depay converted and Virgil van Dijk also scored from a cross late on.
Big games coming up for the Netherlands and Liverpool
Van Dijk and Wijnaldum seem to have made it a habit of scoring in internationals. The Liverpool defender scored against Germany earlier in the season, and their next game is a clash against the same opponents.
Germany are yet to play a game in their Euro 2020 qualifying phase and this should be a great clash before the international break ends.
The Reds don’t have an easy game after the break with Tottenham visiting Anfield on 31 March. Liverpool need to keep winning their games and put the pressure on second-placed Manchester City.
The Cityzens have a game in hand on us but we hold a two-point lead over them.
Van Dijk has been the player of the season for the Reds thus far, while Wijnaldum did a great job in the first half of the season.
Several fans were happy that the pair came out unscathed from the tie and were pleased with their win.
