Latest Liverpool transfer news: Zinedine Zidane isn’t selling Marco Asensio

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has said that Marco Asensio is not for sale and the Spaniard will be an important component for Los Galacticos.

The Metro reports that Liverpool have been linked with the 23-year-old Spaniard. The Spaniard’s future was in doubt under former manager Julen Lopetegui and were willing to let him go for £100million (h/t Metro).

The report adds that Chelsea were also interested in the player after Real’s stance on the player. However, Zidane wants to keep hold of the Champions League winner (h/t Metro):

“I have spoken to him and told him that he will be fundamental to the team.

“And I want him here with us.”

Lack of playing time this season for Asensio

Real have struggled this season and sacked Julen Lopetegui. They replaced the former Spain manager with Santiago Solari, but that didn’t work out well either.

Zidane returned to the team after walking out nearly 10 months ago, and this has affected the playing times of several players.

Asensio is one of them and the Spaniard only has 14 La Liga and a couple of Champions League starts to his name this season.

The winger also has seven goals and six assists in all competitions for Real but has started the previous two games for the Spanish giants.

Real are already out of the Copa del Rey and Champions League, and will need a miracle to win the La Liga crown from Barcelona.
