Liverpool opinion: Interest in Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi makes sense for Liverpool

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s transfer saga continues as Liverpool have been linked with the Chelsea youngster by the Bild (h/t Mirror).

The 18-year-old has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund with the Bundesliga champions seeing a £35million bid rejected in the winter window by Chelsea (h/t Mirror).

The youngster was set to earn £85,000-a-week over a new deal, but he rejected the deal and could leave on a free at the end of next season (h/t Sky Sports

Liverpool could do with more attacking options in the team and the links with Hudson-Odoi do make sense given the scheme of things at Anfield.

A young talent with a bright future

Hudson-Odoi has looked impressive in the Europa League this season, however, he is still searching for his first start in the Premier League.

Maurizio Sarri seems reluctant to give the 18-year-old a chance, despite his four goals and two assists from eight Europa League games this season.

It should not come as a surprise that Bayern want to sign the English talent, and he could turn out to be another Jadon Sancho in the making.

Liverpool have given opportunities to young players in the past with a few becoming first-teamers under Jurgen Klopp.

It isn’t to suggest that Hudson-Odoi would usurp Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah right from the start, but there is a chance he would be given a fair crack by Klopp in the team.

The Reds require attacking options in the team and provide cover for the wide men, who seem to play almost every game.

This isn’t the first time Klopp has been linked with a Premier League rival’s player. We made a surprising move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and the former Gunner was doing well before his knee injury against AS Roma.

The Dominic Solanke transfer didn’t work out well in terms of playing minutes. The Englishman also joined from Chelsea once his contract came to an end and was recently sold to Bournemouth, despite failing to make a Premier League start this season for Liverpool.

Chelsea also have a transfer ban looming (h/t BBC) and that could force their hand into keeping Hudson-Odoi for the upcoming season, meaning, he would be free to move at the end of the next campaign.
