Liverpool opinion: Mohamed Salah’s break comes at the right time for Liverpool

While several Liverpool players had to travel for their national teams, Mohamed Salah was left out of the games for Egypt and he seems to be enjoying himself.

The forward is tied with Sadio Mane on 17 goals apiece in the Premier League, and the pair are just one goal behind Sergio Aguero in the race for the Golden Boot.

However, that masks some of his struggles this season. The Egyptian has just one goal and one assist from his last 10 games in all competitions.

Salah was never going to continue scoring in the same manner as last season this time around.

Defenders are smarter and are making it difficult for him to get into shooting positions, and with the Reds under pressure to break their trophy drought under Jurgen Klopp, this break comes at the right time for him and Liverpool.

Salah getting his mojo back

The Egyptian was snatching at chances and trying to do it all on his own for several weeks. However, that changed recently as he seems to be a more team player now. Of course, he is trying to score but he isn’t trying to shoot from impossible angles.

The game against Bayern Munich was proof of that. Salah had one quality shot at Manuel Neuer, but his pass for the third goal that Sadio Mane scored was excellent.

Against Burnley, the Egyptian had a hand in several goals, but none of them could be counted as assists. Salah ripped into the Burnley defence and Roberto Firmino was at hand to score two simple goals.

In the win over Fulham, it was Salah’s shot that Sergio Rico failed to handle with Mane winning a penalty late on.

The Egyptian is finding spaces and is tormenting defences, just without a goal to his name. The 26-year-old is still one of the best in the world and it is only a matter of time before he starts banging goals in for fun.

The break could not have come at a better time for the Liverpool star. He can turn things down a bit, relax and come back in the right frame of mind for our final games of the season.
