Latest Liverpool news: Naby Keita left out of provisional squad to face Tottenham
The Metro reports that summer signing Naby Keita has been left out of the provisional squad to face Tottenham on Sunday.
The report adds that Keita was not included in Guinea’s match against Mauritania as he had an ankle problem.
The former RB Leipzig midfielder didn’t play in our last two games but returned to training this week with the rest of the side.
The report adds that despite participating in full training on Friday, the 24-year-old was left out of the side to play Spurs.
A season impacted by injuries
Keita came into the season with a lot of promise after starring for Leipzig. The midfielder did well in the first game of the season against West Ham but hasn’t really kicked on from that.
Competition for midfield spots in the Liverpool team and several minor injuries have played a part in reducing Keita’s time in the starting XI.
The midfielder has just 14 starts to his name in all competitions this season with 11 more off the bench.
His output in the final third hasn’t been eye-popping either with just one assist all season for the Reds.
Keita’s last appearance came in the 4-2 win over Burnley and we need all our players to stay fit for the remainder of the campaign.

The Guinea midfielder has had flashes of brilliance in some games, and that could come to use in cracking a tough defence.
