Latest Liverpool transfer news: Milan Skriniar set to stay with Inter Milan

The Mirror reports that Inter Milan have agreed to double the wages of star defender Milan Skriniar.

The report adds that Skriniar will earn a basic wage of £60,000-a-week before bonuses kick in, and the move was done to keep him away from Premier League sides.

The 24-year-old Slovakian has played 36 times for Inter this season and has been excellent at the back.

The report claims that Liverpool along with Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea were tracking the Slovakian.

Inter rate Skriniar highly

Skriniar had his head turned by the interest from the Premier League, however, the report claims that Inter are now confident of keeping their star player, thanks to the new deal.

The report adds that the new contract would keep the Slovakian in Milan until 2024 and Inter value the 24-year-old at £80million.

The Reds could do with another centre-back in the summer as we were stretched this season due to injuries and suspensions.

Fabinho slotted into the position in a couple of games and Dejan Lovren has had his injury concerns since the World Cup.

Joe Gomez was unlucky to suffer a lower leg fracture in December, and his return was further delayed as he underwent surgery recently.
