Liverpool FC transfer news: Alex Grimaldo one of three Benfica targets for Liverpool

Correio de Manha (h/t Liverpool Echo) reports that Liverpool have made a bid for an “unnamed” Benfica star.

The Portuguese outlet claims (h/t Liverpool Echo) that Benfica could be the subject of several big transfers and could end up raising up to £300m via potential sales.

The report adds that Joao Felix, Ruben Dias and Alex Grimaldo are all targets for the Reds.

Felix has been one name that has been linked with the Reds for a while but Grimaldo is an interesting player that the Reds could be targeting.

A quality left-back coming to Anfield?

The 23-year-old Spaniard has been excellent for Benfica this season and has also contributed to their attack.

The left-back has seven goals and seven assists to his name this season and has been involved in three goals in his last three games.

Dias is a young centre-back, and it is interesting that all three players targetted by the Reds are quality youngsters.

The Reds have problems with their left-back position as there is no quality competition for Andy Robertson.

Alberto Moreno has struggled to get games in place of possibly the best left-back in the Premier League. The Spaniard has also been linked with a move away from Anfield in the summer.

Moreno has also made some mistakes during his time at Anfield, and we need quality cover for the Scotland captain.

Grimaldo seems to be another quality attacking left-back, and it will be interesting if we did bid for the 23-year-old.
