Liverpool FC transfer news: Pundits want Christian Eriksen at Anfield
Gary Stevens and Dominic Matteo want Liverpool to sign Tottenham attacker Christian Eriksen.
The Dane has been one of the best players in the Premier League since joining from Ajax, and the Express claims that Real Madrid will make a move for the 27-year-old in the summer.
Eriksen played a role in Tottenham’s goal at Anfield on Sunday, and Stevens told Stadium Astro (h/t Express) that the Reds need to sign a player who could get into any team in the world.
The former Everton player added that Eriksen would be handy at Anfield (h/t Express):
“I think Christian Eriksen – not that I want Spurs to lose Christian Eriksen – I think he would be the type of player who would be brilliant for Liverpool Football Club.”
The pundit claimed that the Dane can make things happen with the ball and scores goals too.
Former Liverpool star Matteo echoed Stevens in suggesting that Eriksen would “suit Liverpool”. The highlighted that we have workhorses in Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum while Eriksen could be the creator:
“A little creator, like Eriksen, just in that pocket, just to thread those balls through.”
Stevens even added that the Dane does the running off the ball too, which would suit Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
“By the way, if you look at the stats, he covers the yardage as well.”
Contract issues for the Dane
The Express adds that Eriksen hasn’t signed a new deal at the club and Spurs would be looking to get a huge fee if he were to leave.
The Dane has scored five times this season in the Premier League and has 10 assists to his name.
