Latest Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp keeps door open for Rhian Brewster debut
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has kept the door open for talented young striker Rhian Brewster to make his debut for the Reds.
The youngster has had a tough time with injuries over the past couple of seasons and played his first game in 14 months in an U23 friendly.
Brewster scored a pair of goals in the win, one was a brilliant curler from outside the box, and picked up a minor knock, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Klopp was speaking ahead of the game against Southampton and was happy seeing Brewster back in training (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“It was good to see Rhian back.
“It’s nice having him in training. It was his birthday this week, 19 years old, crazy. So much to come. Get him fit, keep him fit and then the door is wide open for him.”
A talented striker for the future
Brewster was excellent for the England U17 team that won the World Cup a couple of years ago. However, his development has been stop-start due to several problems.
The English youngster seems to have a lot of backing from the manager, and it will be interesting to see if he gets some minutes before the end of the season.
Brewster isn’t the only player that is looking to make a comeback as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been participating in training for a few weeks.
The midfielder also played in an U23 game against Derby County but picked up a minor problem.

The Ox hasn’t played since last season’s Champions League tie against AS Roma, and it would be fantastic if we get to see him on the pitch soon.
