Latest Liverpool news: Fans still in awe of Andy Robertson’s block against Tottenham

Liverpool needed a bit of fortune to defeat Tottenham on Sunday as Toby Alderweireld put into his own net.

The Reds did create the chance for the goal as Mohamed Salah’s header was only parried by Hugo Lloris onto the defender.

Anfield went ballistic as the players went off to celebrate, however, there was one defender doing his bit for the Reds in both attack and defence.

Virgil van Dijk got the plaudits for his match-saving moment late in the game. The Dutch defender stopped a two-on-one situation with Moussa Sissoko bearing down on goal, however, Andy Robertson was brilliant in the game too.

The Scot recorded an assist for Roberto Firmino’s opener and made one important block with Christian Eriksen seemingly set to score.

A fantastic season for Robbo

The former Hull City defender has been a model of consistency under Jurgen Klopp. The Scot has recorded 11 assists in all competitions with nine coming in the Premier League alone.

The 25-year-old had to be on his guard to keep Spurs from scoring, and he did keep a calm head with his pass to Trent Alexander-Arnold in the final minute of the game.

Robertson has to be one of the best bargains in Premier League history, and many fans were praising the defender for his block on Sunday.
